Almost four years ago Stephanie Harvell bought a $5 Michigan Lottery scratch-off ticket at her local Speedway in Bay County and won $500,000. According to MLive.com, the press release put out by the Michigan Lottery quoted Stephanie as saying she and her husband Mitchell had received an eviction notice on the very day she won the money. She said she planned to use the money to buy a house and a car and set up college funds for her two daughters.

Beautiful story, right?

Last Thursday, Stephanie and Mitchell were arrested and charged with second-degree home invasion and possession of burglary tools. Somebody saw their SUV driving away from a home that had been broken into. When the vehicle was found, they and items from the home were found in the SUV. When police searched their home (so at least they did buy a house with the lottery money) they found items from other burglarized homes. The Bay County Sheriff says the couple is accused in multiple daytime home invasions in Bay, Arenac, Saginaw, Midland, and Tuscola counties going back about two months.
