This pandemic we are all experiencing for the first time in our lives is certainly anything but predictable. But we have definitely learned a lot in our observations since it invaded our lives back in March. And that is exactly what government officials are doing to keep us safe, watching the trends and trying to keep the curve flattened. Governor Whitmer has opened up quite a bit of the state of Michigan in the past couple months.

Michiganders have done a great job of doing their part to help contain this invisible enemy. However, since lifting some of the restrictions, we’ve seen some spikes at bars and large gatherings. The list of people infected at Harpers in East Lansing is now at 187. So, Michigan is pulling back once again, now limiting the number of people gathering indoors to ten people, including regions 6 and 8. And if a business earns 70% of their income from their bar, they can only serve outside, at bar service must shut down.

Even though we are pulling back some, the Governor is still moving on with re-opening another major entertainment venue, the Casinos. ClickonDetroit reports “Detroit casinos will be allowed to open on Aug. 5. Their occupancy will be limited to 15 percent capacity. Casinos will also be required to conduct a daily entry screening protocol for customers and employees.” So, if you are feeling lucky, you can now go back to the Detroit Casinos and gamble. We’re slowly making progress.
