That's not a typo, that's $100 million Michigan 'donations' to the gaming gods. Again, that's only in September 2025. Just one calendar month of 'fun.'

The Michigan Gaming Control Board released its report for last month, revealing that MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown collectively generated $98.9 million in revenue. Not a bad haul for 30 days, but that's down 1.4% from the same period last year. Still, that 'shortage' is more than the average household will see in a year.

MGM dominated with a 47% take of the total revenue, followed by MotorCity with 30%, and Greektown with 23%. However, the State of Michigan will take $8 million in gaming taxes, and the City of Detroit will collect $16.1 million — enough to fill potholes...on like two streets.

Sports Betting Woes at Greektown

It's not all good news for the Detroit casinos. Greektown lost nearly a quarter of a million dollars on sports betting. It appears Detroit Lions optimism might be tanking their books. MGM and MotorCity reported sports betting profits of $394,500 and $589,142, respectively.
