We've been forced to spend a lot of time with ourselves this past year because of the pandemic. Some of us have even considered career changes after the year we've had. Bizjournals.com says if you're thinking about going after a new job, it's worth the risk.

Take a page from a Lansing native. Darnell Jones followed his dream and is now a staff writer for the fourth season of Disney Channel's sitcom "Raven's Home." After graduating from Everett High School, Jones moved to California to pursue a comedy career. He then moved across the country to New York where he worked in the marketing department for shows like "CBS This Morning", "the CBS Evening News", and more.

Fast forward a few years and Jones is headed back to California thanks to a comedy writer’s scholarship. He's the first to receive the scholarship formed in the memory of Disney Channel’s Storyteller and Showrunner Eunetta Boone.

Jones says, responsibilities or not, you're never too old to pursue your dreams.

"If you’re focusing on that dream, by the time the door appears, you will be able to walk through that door. Those responsibilities you think may be holding you back will feel a lot easier to rearrange.”

If you're thinking about making a career change, I say do it. Nothing great comes easy. I have a few friends who have made sudden career changes this year and are happy they did it. Is it scary? Absolutely. But you know what they say, "If you love what you do, you'll never work another day in your life."
