Berger’s Family Restaurant Closing After 96 Years In Michigan
Berger's Family Restaurant in Bay City, Michigan will soon close its doors after nearly 100 years in business.
The Bay County family-owned business recently announced closing details via social media and revealed an exact closing date, Saturday, August 31st, 2024.
Owners Bruce and Michelle Berger are choosing to go out of business on their terms. As you will read in their official statement below, Bruce Berger is the fourth-generation owner of Berger's Family Restaurant. As you can imagine, after 96 years in business, this is a difficult decision to make.
Higher labor, product, and equipment costs have made it increasingly tough to navigate the business.
Has Berger's Family Restaurant been sold?
The building has been sold, and will not reopen as a restaurant. The family was not comfortable selling the Berger name. According to WNEM, the restaurant will be converted to office space.
If you have never been to Berger's Family Restaurant in Bay City make it happen before doors officially close. Chances are if you are a regular at Berger's, you are making it a point to visit every day.

- Monday: Closed
- Tuesday: 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
- Wednesday: 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
- Wednesday: 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
- Thursday: 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
- Friday: 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM
- Sunday: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
