He was born in Charlotte in 1952.....his name is A. Whitney Brown.

According to Wiki, during Brown's early years in Charlotte, he had his share of troubles. His father abandoned him when he was 12 and put him in an institution. He never finished high school, he was arrested for car theft and spent time in a reformatory. He began wandering from place to place, getting into trouble in Canada and spending time in a Texas jail.

Afterward, Brown found his way west and became a roadie for The Grateful Dead. His interest in show business increased, he learned to juggle and became a standup comedian in 1977. He guested on Late Night with David Letterman and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson among others.

When Did A. Whitney Brown Join the Cast of SNL?

He joined the Writer’s Guild and was hired as a writer on Saturday Night Live in 1985. Brown won an Emmy, shared an office with Chris Farley and had his own Weekend Update segment.

After leaving Saturday Night Live, he joined the cast of The Daily Show as a correspondent. Lately, Brown has kept a low profile.

In 2011, he married blues singer Carolyn Wonderland with the wedding ceremony performed by guitarist and vocalist of The Monkees, Michael Nesmith.
