There are some things that are so quintessentially fall in Michigan that they must be done every season. Enter: going to the apple orchard.
Why Apple Orchards Are a Michigan Fall Tradition
Going to the apple orchard is basically a rite of passage for every Michigander. You must go at least once in your life, but ideally, you're renewing your metaphorical Pure Michigan membership every year with a trip to at least one apple orchard.
Don't worry, your card won't be revoked... we'll just judge you a little for not going.
The Unwritten Rules of Visiting an Apple Orchard
If you do plan on making a visit to an apple orchard this fall—and don't worry, there are PLENTY to choose from—there are some "rules" that you'll want to follow.
Rule #1: You must take a picture holding your cider and donuts, because if you don't did it even happen?
Bonus points if there's a seasonal gourd in the background.
Rule #2: You will spend more than you intend on cider and donuts, but it'll be worth it.
Because you need a walking-around cider and donuts, as well as some to take home.

Rule #3: Don't skip out on picking your own pumpkins or apples.
Don't think of it as paying to do some of the farm's labor, think of it as paying to have a super fun experience that also happens to come with food you get to take home.
Rule #4: The corn maze is for solid relationships only.
The corn maze is a relationship tester and only the strong come out alive. Keep this in mind before you step foot in it.
