Annual Lumberjack Festival Coming Back to Lansing
"Brrs, Beards & Brews: A Lumberjack Festival" returns to Lansing, Michigan, on March 29.
Now in its 6th year, the annual festival takes over the 1200 block of Turner Street in Lansing's Old Town, and truly features something for everybody during an afternoon of fun, flannel and facial hair.
Why "Brrs, Beards & Brews"?
March weather in Lansing can be unpredictable. Will there be snow? Will it be sunny and 70? We'll have to wait and see. "Brrs" are most likely, so plan to dress accordingly - perhaps in your best buffalo plaid.

Beards? You'll see plenty of those, both real and not-so-real. This lumberjack festival even features what it calls "Michigan's Least Professional Beard Competition", with winners to be named in a variety of categories ranging from "Bizarro & Beautiful" to "The Stache Stands Alone", "Velveteen Vigor", and "Longest & Strongest".
As for "brews", come thirsty. Festival organizers promise that "fabulous beverages ranging from beer, non-beery things that come in a can, bourbon and non-alcoholic beverages" will be available.
Feats of Strength: Can You Handle It?
Pre-registered teams of five will compete in a variety of games during the festival, many of which won't even be revealed until it's time to play. Challenges requiring both muscle and strategy are likely.

The festival's event page on Facebook has revealed one tiny detail: spectators will be able to purchase pancakes to throw at the teams to either help or hinder them during some points of the competition. (Come on - what else are you going to be doing that Saturday?)
