
It’s Official! Big Penny Has Had Her First Meal of 2025
It was only a matter of time before she feasted again...
It was about a month ago when I mused out loud and online that Big Penny, Lansing's Famous Truck Eating Bridge, hadn't had a meal yet in 2025. Well, I think we all knew it wasn't going to be long before that changed.
Big Penny, Lansing's Famous Truck Eating Bridge
Big Penny (or her full legal name, Penny the Truck Eating Bridge) is a bridge that goes over Pennsylvania Avenue, just outside of Potter Park Zoo.
And what makes Big Penny so special is that she's actually rather short.
Big Penny only has a clearance of 12 feet, which is why she gets the moniker; truck eating... so many trucks, RVs, and other big vehicles attempt to make their way under Big Penny, only to get their top shorn or to get stuck completely. Today's situation was the former.

Big Penny has officially come out of hibernation and munched on her first truck on the year.
