Grand Rapids Nature Center Offering Free Admission Entire Month of August
As summer winds down, you might be running out of ways to entertain the kiddos. Well here's a chance to get out in nature and do some exploring - for free!
Blandford Nature Center's Admission Free August
For the first time ever,Grand Rapids' Blandford Nature Center is offering "Admission Free August"!
You can explore Blandford Nature Center at no cost from August 1st through the 31st thanks to sponsor Meijer.

The month of free admission includes access to 264 acres of forests, meadows, and wetlands, 8 miles of trails including 1 mile of ADA accessible trails, 2 outdoor playscapes, the Blandford Farm and Children’s Garden, and their Wildlife Education Center with over 30 rehabilitated Wildlife Ambassadors.
As part of Admission Free August, Blandford Nature Center is also offering some free programs and activities including:
(Note that for some programs there still is a fee, such as Yoga at the Highlands and Nocturnal Animals Hike.)
What Animals are at Blandford Nature Center?
Blandford’s Wildlife Ambassadors permanently live at the Center due to severe injuries. The rescued animals help educate students and give families a close-up view not often seen in outdoor exploration.
Animals at Blandford Nature Center include:
- Hawks and Falcons
- Owls
- Flying Squirrel
- Porcupine
- Turtles
- Goats
- Sheep
- Chickens
There are also reptiles and amphibians.
Keep in mind that the Wildlife Education Center will be closed periodically throughout the day for routine cleaning and feeding. They recommended calling ahead to see if the Wildlife Education Center will be open.
