POLL: Is Cranberry Sauce the Worst of These Dishes?
Call it tradition. Call it a condiment? Don't call it a comeback (sorry...I love LL Cool J).
It's a sauce. And not like gravy per say, but it's a staple. And it's not like it's around all the time. Just for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. And for me and my family (African American from down south - Mississippi stand up), if you are having dressing (a lot of y'all do stuffing and that's a whole 'nother conversation), you are having cranberry sauce. And jellied cranberry sauce from the can. Not that whole berry stuff and not that cranberry relish junk.
But they did a poll. And the results are blasphemous.
At the top of the most despised list of Thanksgiving dishes is the very controversial canned cranberry sauce — a gelatinous and sweet side dish that has a consistency similar to Jell-O. According to the survey, 29 percent of participants disliked the giggly berry sauce in general, with 46 percent of those polled calling the canned version “disgusting.” (Fox News)
Controversial?
How rude! And what did cranberry sauce lose out to?
Followed close behind with disapproval ratings of 24 percent and 22 percent, respectively, are green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole. (Fox News)
Green bean casserole, I could take it or leave it. Some folks know how to do it. Some don't. Now this sweet potato casserole? What's with the marshmallows? What the? I truly believe folks who make this just don't know how to make a good sweet potato pie. My momma would agree. And we both could help you with that. Just ask.
So, we decided to do our own poll. One has got to go. And you get to decide. Is it cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, or sweet potato casserole? Vote for the one THAT HAS GOT TO GO. The one you dislike, despise, detest the most.
