Hampton Jewelers in Okemos Officially Closed

Hampton Jewelers at 4749 Central Park Drive closed Monday, according to its owner, Harold Hampton.  He said the company will  return jewelry that was on consignment or in for repair at the time of the abrupt closure.

Hampton said the business was evicted from the building for failing to pay its January rent.  Store employees removed merchandise Feb. 5-7.

Meridian Township Treasurer Julie Brixie said the township began to seize the businesse's equipment the morning of Feb. 8 because of unpaid property taxes.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
