I remember many years ago when I was in grade school, we all went on a field trip straight to the Capitol of Michigan and not only did we tour the outside of the state Capitol, we had a great tour inside as well.

Even though that was many years ago, the Michigan Capitol's aging infrastructure is starting to wear down.

The first and last major renovation and restoration project was almost 30 years ago when equipment and new systems were installed, but they have not been updated since.

Significant repairs and upgrades are needed to much of the Capitol's plumbing, electrical, mechanical and fire suppression systems.  Here's more from michiganradio.org.
