Do You Think They’ll Open Dressing Rooms Anytime Soon?

Earlier this week I purchased some shirts from Kohl's. I was feeling fancy, had some Kohl's cash burning a hole in my pocket, and I was in Okemos so I decided to stop by. I lamented for way too long over some t-shirts and then decided to go "grown man status" and get something "more mature". There were some pretty snazzy golf shirts. A plethora of colors and prints. And I'm thinking yeah, this is the direction I want to go. I grabbed some nice pastels as Easter was coming up and spring is here. Just needed to try them on and...

Oh...we're still not doing that.

Now I have to do that thing I hate. Buy stuff, take it home, try it on, hope it fits, and hope I like how it fits.

I purchased. I took them home. I tried them on.

Nah.

No bueno.

NOW I have to take them BACK to the store and do this whole experiment again.

Nope. Now I just want my money back. And I wait like 3 - 4 days to take these shirts back. And I decide to take them back to the Saginaw Highway location. Just in case I change my mind and maybe find something I like over there.

I make it to the store on a Saturday...before Easter. Everyone and their mother was there. You want to know how I know that?

Because they were all standing in line in front of me for customer service and returns. And I'm willing to bet dollars to donuts that people were bringing back clothes because they didn't fit right and they couldn't try them on at the store.

Fitting rooms have been shut down since early in the pandemic but folks just like me are ready for them to get back open.

Seventy-seven percent of shoppers want to be able to try on clothes again in fitting rooms this year, but only 36% would like to see beauty and wellness product testing return, according to research by retail payments and shopping service Klarna. The company surveyed more than 41,000 shoppers across the U.S. to understand the pandemic’s lasting impact on consumer spending behavior. (CSA)

I know we can't rush this for safety sake. And things are not going back to the way they were before. Some of the changes will definitely remain like the sanitation stations and touchless options. Folks want and expect that. But I for one will be extremely happy and grateful when I can try on clothes again in store. I hate taking stuff back.
