It's now official, demolition work is underway in downtown Lansing.  Crews are clearing way for a development that will include the area's first grocery store.

It's going to be called the 600 Block when it's all finished.  The block 600 project will bring the area some new housing, an urban market, and the city's first new hotel in over twenty years.

Mayor Andy Schor says the site will anchor the new look of downtown Lansing.  The Block 600 Project is on time so far.  It should be finished in September of 2020.

Mayor Schor also said, a grocery store is the one thing that I heard over and over again.  Downtown is great, stadium district is great, we want to live downtown, and we need a walkable community and a grocery store.  Here's more from WILX-News 10, Your Breaking News and Weather Authority.
