You've never seen a pumpkin like this in Michigan? Picture this, an actual giant pumpkin that weighs 2,702.9 pounds. That's the current world record holder.

The national record is 2,528 pounds and the state record here in Michigan is 2,118 pounds. How many pumpkin pies could we get out of those huge gourds?

Who has the biggest home grown pumpkin in Michigan? Perhaps somewhere in Waterford. There's a couple in Waterford who grow one very large pumpkin.

They're hoping this large pumpkin will reach at least 2,400 pounds, or even more. This couple even has a special greenhouse, just for this ginormous pumpkin.

According to wxyz.com:

Now Frank's holding out hope that he could just have the biggest pumpkin around. That is, if things go just right: no big cracks, no rotting, there’s a lot that can go wrong.

I'm sure it takes a lot of work tending to this huge pumpkin, especially if you're trying to beat the current state record of over 2,000 pounds.

This has to cost a pretty penny when it comes to pumpkin growing. Here's what wxyz.com had to say:

The Morse family hopes their dedication will pay off, because giant pumpkin growing is some serious business. "These seeds sell for 100 to 200 dollars a seed," said Frank. And for record-breakers, the price goes up.

Can't even imagine a pumpkin weighing over 2,000 pounds. I've never seen a large pumpkin quite like this before.

I remember back in my high school days when I would take pumpkins off neighborhood porches and smash them on sidewalks or any other place my friends and I could find on Halloween night.

One of those pumpkins that we took was huge. My friends and I could barely lift it. Sure kids will be kids, but can you imagine trying to pick up a 2,000 pound gourd? Only with a crane and a dump truck. Happy Halloween and look out for "The Great Pumpkin" of Waterford, Michigan!
