When was the last time you visited Castle Rock in St. Ignace?

Thanks to the Ice Age, this limestone tower was created when the land around it deteriorated from erosion, thanks to glacial melting. Years later, members of the Ojibwa tribe called this point “Ojibway's Lookout” or "Pontiac's Lookout" but it is believed that the real lookout point was the nearby ”Rabbit's Back” hill. It was given that name due to its appearance of a crouching rabbit, as seen from Mackinac Island.

Seeing that this limestone obelisk could be turned into something that could make someone a pile o'dough, the whole thing was purchased in 1928 by C.C. Eby, who thereby made his visions of dollar signs come true by making the tower a tourist trap.

And people love it.

Castle Rock is 195 feet tall with an awesome panoramic view with a 20-mile radius at the top. Not only have an infinite number of visitors trekked up all those stairs to the top, but a good number of others have done something else...... they mooned.

That's right...there have been many a person who, once at the top of the tower, dropped their drawers and mooned the unsuspecting public below (of course, being a member of that public and that far down below, how can one be sure of what you are really seeing?)

Don't forget to get a selfie with Paul Bunyan & Babe the Blue Ox while you're there! And visit the gift shop for some goodies, with plenty of crafts made by the local Native Americans.
