Can East Lansing Sell 27 Acres
According to the Lansing State Journal, voters will decide very soon whether city officials can sell about 27 acres of vacant land.
The 26.83 acre property sits vacant at the southwest corner of West and Coleman roads in Clinton County.
Currently it doesn't have utilities already installed, with no buildings. The only man made structures are two billboards on the western edge of the site.
East Lansing bought the property last year, and officials now want to sell it to at least make back the money the city spent on the land.
If voters approve, the city could sell all or part of the property and potentially get more than it paid for.
The reason the city purchased this property is because a previous owner missed property tax payments and was in foreclosure for several years.
