Open burning permits will be suspended across the state, which is another thing you can add to the list of things suspended due to COVID-19. According to WLNS,  the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in a Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Fire Services sent out a press release announcing this suspension.

The move is due to the Coronavirus as well as the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order. Another reason why the burn permits will take a little break is because Michigan needs to make sure it has all of the state's emergency response resources are available when needed. Obviously with less fires it also means less of a potential for bigger fires or one that get out of control, which can also take emergency personnel away from where they are needed now.

You can see more about the burn permits suspension here, and how it might come back later in the year.
