Avoid Overeating While Staying Home
One of the easiest things to do while staying at home these days, is digging into all kinds of snacks and bad food choices. We're all guilty of that!
Do you feel like your eating habits have changed while following stay at home orders? It's so easy to keep reaching for snack after snack just to break up the day.
Here are several ways to avoid overeating:
1. Avoid stress eating. When people are emotional, stressed or bored, people will turn to food for comfort. Just ask your yourself this question: am I really hungry or am I just stress eating?
According to the Lansing State Journal, try finding an outlet to relieve stress that doesn't involve food. Go for a walk outside, call a friend, or drink a big glass of water.
2. Set a meal schedule and try to stick to it. If you don't really have a schedule, even during normal times, now is a great opportunity to create one.
3. Plan your meals. My wife Lori is very good at planning meals. We just sit down at the beginning of the week and write out our meal schedule. This certainly does help when it comes to eating more healthy food choices.
4. When you don't have time to cook, choose healthy shortcuts. There are so many frozen products that can be healthy options.
If you're sitting on the couch with a bag or a box of chips or crackers, you don't have that sense of portion control, and you just keep eating mindlessly. Please click on the above link for more ways to avoid overeating.
