UPDATE: Is Arctic Corner “Officially” For Sale In Old Town?
UPDATE - Tuesday - Oct 12th, 2021 - 6:50 am
We had a chance to speak with Arctic Corner owner Mark Adkins Monday afternoon and he let us know the following.
- Yes, Arctic Corner is for sale. It has been for a while.
- He's retiring and it's just now officially listed.
- Whoever does purchase the business has to keep it as an ice cream shop.
- Sale or no sale, it will be open next spring.
- While Mark is retiring, Tommy Torrez will be staying on to help with operations.
- Arctic Corner does date all the way back to 1953 when it used to be a Tastee Freeze.
Sadly, this is becoming more common place. But this one hurts.
This past summer I stopped by Arctic Corner in Old Town and even wrote about my experience there.
Welcome to one of the best ice cream spots in the city. Nestled away in Old Town and conveniently located on the corner of Grand River Ave. and Center Street.
Arctic Corner is a certified and verified Lansing Classic.

According to the article, they have been around since 1953.
When I was there this past summer, out front looked like this.
This past weekend, when I went by it looked like this.
There's a little Arctic Corner confusion.
This popular ice cream spot is seasonal. We all know that.
And when they usually say goodbye it's JUST FOR THE SEASON.
Including this instance because in the windows you can clearly see the following.
Let's get closer.
We were assuming the last day of the season. And this was last week. October 2nd.
More photos that seem to let us know, again, they are just closing FOR THE SEASON.
Those signs that say we'll see you next spring kind of make you wonder why this one is here?
Is it a mistake?
Where there's a will, there's a website.
On the sign it says RCGMichigan.com. That's where we went and this is what we found.
It's for sale. It's active. And it could all be yours for the low low price of $440K.
Either this is wishful thinking.
Or something happened as quickly as a week ago.
We'll keep digging but from the looks of it, things could be changing at Arctic Corner spring of 2022.
