Here's the third and final chapter in the exploration of the abandoned sites and places along US-2 in the Upper Peninsula.

Part One began in Sault Ste. Marie and ended in Blaney Park.
Part Two covered the area from Blaney Park to Manistique.....and in this segment we finish up from Manistique to Escanaba. Actually, US-2 ends in Rapid River, miles before Escanaba. From there it turns into US-41 and by the time it gets to Escanaba, it's US-35.....and not as exciting or interesting.

This final route segment features more of the same: shut down businesses, deteriorating barns, junked vehicles, and abandoned houses.

Also, empty motels, a deserted gas station or two, and structures that look like they could have been restaurants at one time.

Roadtrippin' across US-2 brings many beautiful shoreline views along Lake Michigan, and plenty of pine trees. It also shows many places where the owners just couldn't keep up with the ever-rising costs. Kind of sad, actually, seeing as though living in the Upper Peninsula is the dream of many Michiganders.
