Abandoned Bridge Covered in the Underbrush, Monroe County

This short abandoned bridge sits where Telegraph and Stoney Creek roads meet in Monroe County, north of Monroe.

It was constructed in the 1920s across Stoney Creek...but just a few years later, in 1931, a newer bridge was built just a few yards away. Whether or not the two bridges were used simultaneously is not known, nor is the date when this 1920s bridge was closed to traffic.

The construction of this bridge was sturdy and it is still holding up well, although there is probably no effort to maintain it.

It sits along Stoney Creek Road and its overgrown entrance can easily be seen as you drive by.

Better hurry and get over there soon for some photos before some genius who disrespects history decides to tear it down.
