Abandoned Beach House on Lake Michigan

For those of you who used to watch episodes of The Monkees on television, you may be aware that Davy, Mike, Micky & Peter all lived together in a house on the beach. This abandoned beach house on Lake Michigan made me think of the Monkees’ house.

Just by looking at this house, you can tell it was once a very nice residence. It’s a two-story home that sits near the dunes overlooking Lake Michigan...a Michigander’s dream home.

Why this place was deserted – or maybe it was sold but left to rot anyway – is a mystery. Even though the outside of the house is falling apart, the insides are worse. Crap and junk all over the place, walls ripped apart, garbage...hardly anything worth salvaging. Oddly enough, I saw no graffiti whatsoever – unless your sharp eye can catch any I missed.

It looks like there was once a pretty cool brick bar on the bottom floor that probably cost a few bucks.

The upstairs windows have some great views of the woods and water...why oh why couldn’t this one have been saved? This one is a shame.
