How's this for news you do not want to see. The United States saw a record number of NEW coronavirus cases in a single day.

Locally, the coronavirus cases are on the rise, as Harpers in East Lansing remains closed after now some 62 cases of COVID-19 have been linked to the East Lansing Bar. Harpers immediately closed when the numbers started coming out.

It was on Tuesday that a notice was issued that 14 customers at the East Lansing Bar had tested positive, and that number continues to grow.

Traverse City is now seeing a spike as well. They had 8 possible new COVID-19 exposure locations after a group failed to follow the rules of social distancing and wearing masks.

Bars and restaurants in Michigan were allowed to reopen June 8th with regulations in place that were designed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Ingham County Health Officer Linda Vail said "you never know who might have COVID-19 because some are not sick yet and some never have signs of the disease." Vail said we need to treat every person they encounter as a potential carrier. What does that mean for you? Wearing masks and keeping six feet away from others.

Anyone hoping to get tested for the coronavirus can call their doctor or visit a testing site.
