Wolves Just Wanna Have Fun
WOLVES.
They seem to get a worse rap than other wild animals. When we hear about northern Michigan wolves, our minds imagine snarling, drooling, bloodthirsty beasts that will rip you to shreds should you happen across one or a pack.
Okay, that's possible, but hardly a common occurrence.
There are many other wild animals in northern Michigan that are just as – if not more – dangerous: moose, bear, cougars, and poisonous snakes. Wolves get a worse rap thanks to all the werewolf movies, the Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood. But take away their need to kill to eat, and wolves are very familial just like any other good animal parent.

Wolves aren't evil and don't necessarily hunt humans for food – I wouldn't want to come across one when they're hungry – but when not on the hunt they are very loving. They play and act almost like any domesticated animal.
CASE IN POINT: the photos below are taken from a video that shows a lone wolf romping and playing in the snow...just like your own dog has done. Take a look at the photo gallery to see images of a wolf in the Upper Peninsula romping and rolling in the snow, just having a good old time for a few seconds. Then watch the short video. Yes, wolves can be cute but also dangerous...if you come across one sometime, keep your distance.
