The little restaurant on the corner of West Avenue and North Street in Jackson is known under a few different names:
White’s Restaurant
White’s Restaurant & Catering
White’s Chicken & Fish

But for me, I have always called it – and will continue to call it – White's Chicken Little.

Don White took over this building in the early 1970s when it was known as Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken. In 1974, his son Harold began working there when he was 14 years old, and it is still family-owned.

In 1992, Harold and his wife took over ownership duties passed on by his father. The success and A-1 reputation of White’s brought about two more locations that are no longer open: one on East Michigan for 23 years until 1999 and another on Prospect for 19 years, closing in 2001.

There is usually “just enough” parking space at the location - 845 N West Avenue – for the hungry to stop, eat in, or pick up an order. Yes, I have eaten there and absolutely love the chicken! The macaroni and cheese is another wildly popular favorite, made fresh and using a blend of four different cheeses...okay, my mouth is craving some now.

Okay, the chicken and mac & cheese are great, but what else is on the menu?

Batter-dipped cod fish, shrimp, sandwiches, wings, salads, onion rings, fried mushrooms, cheese steak hoagies, and more items on their extensive menu.

White’s Chicken Little is a Jackson icon, tradition, and a place you can rely on to get a top-notch bite to eat. If you haven’t been there for some food in a while, you really need to. Get a taste of some real Jackson history.
