Why Do People Visit Scott Rock? And What’s Its Purpose?
I have been trying to find out about this curious location with no luck.
No backstory
No history
No tale
Nothing whatsoever, except the online remarks of those who say they have visited.
The only blurb I can find on it says: “Discover the timeless beauty of Scott Rock! Nestled at the heart of Up North Michigan, it’s more than just a landmark- it’s a symbol of history, artistry, and community. See why it continues to captivate all who pass by!”
Okay, so I’ve TRIED to “see why it continues to captivate all who pass by” but there is no info in it anywhere.

It’s a big rock with the name “Scott” splashed across it in blue paint. So, who is ‘Scott’ and is there a reason we are to remember this person? I thought I possibly came across some kind of info when I saw a Google review that started "During this Thanksgiving, it’s an honor to pay tribute to the S....” and then it cuts off. So I click on the review to read the rest of it and it goes straight to Google Maps.
I have a suspicion there is no story. Just a plain old rock with ‘Scott’ on it. Is “Scott Rock” the name of someone? If so, this whole thing has been getting press (and even a location mention on Google Maps) and there probably isn’t any backstory at all.
So.....anyone got any details to add?
UPDATE:
A person left a comment stating that it is in remembrance of a soldier who was killed there in 1998. Evidently, according to this person, "Scott" was driving home when another driver crossed the center lane and smashed into him.
