Water Now Safe at Willow Ridge in Grand Ledge

According to the Lansing State Journal, students and staff at Willow Ridge Elementary School are free to get rid of bottled water after a new round of tests showed the building's water supply is safe.

Most recently, the school district replaced all faucets and shut off valves in the building after tests showed lead levels above federal limits in two water samples.

School officials were notified on Aug. 26th, one day after classes had begun, that two of 10 samples collected at the building had elevated levels.

The district's maintenance staff replaced all 85 water fixtures in the building at an estimated cost of $20,000 to $30,000.

The state requires water testing at Willow Ridge and three other district schools that use well water every three years.

The health department said the school's water will be tested every six months. Please click on the above link for more information.
