We all have a favorite mask to wear these days when it comes to the coronavirus pandemic. I now have several masks including a 99.1 WFMK mask, a Detroit Tigers logo mask, and now I'm about to order a Batman mask online.

Many of us are turning to cloth masks to help stop the spread of the coronavirus, but washing our masks can be a bit puzzling.

According to the Lansing State Journal, the experts at McLaren Greater Lansing are here to help.

Here's what the Centers for Disease Control recommends when it comes to sanitizing our masks.

1. Wash your cloth mask after each use.

2. You can do it by hand or in the washing machine.

3. Make sure it's disinfected and ready to use the next time you leave your home.

"If you're washing by hand, start by prepping a bleach solution by mixing 1/3 cup of disinfecting bleach per gallon of room temperature water. Next, just let the mask soak for five minutes and rinse it thoroughly in cool water." (LSJ)

If you plan on using a washing machine, it's fine to toss your mask in with the rest of your laundry as long as you use the warmest water. Make sure it's appropriate for the material of your cloth mask.

And when it comes to drying your cloth mask, toss it in the dryer along with the rest of your laundry on the warmest heat setting for your mask material or you can do what we do at home, just lay it flat to air dry.

Just keep in mind that medical experts say it's important to put on your face mask when you head out to help keep others safe.
