Visit Sleeping Bear Dunes For Free These Days In 2020
While we are in the thick of winter right now, there is nothing wrong with already dreaming up your summer plans! Lucky for us, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is helping us out.
If you are the outdoorsy type, love gorgeous, sweeping views and only want to be a hop, skip and a jump from all of the hustle and bustle of Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes provides a perfect getaway for the Pure Michigan enthusiasts.
According to MLive, Sleeping Bear Dunes and Isle Royale will be waiving entrance fees on five days this year.
It is actually part of the National Park Service's fee-free days where fees are waived at National Parks around the country but we Michiganders sure do hold a special place in our hearts for ol' Sleeping Bear!
The National Park Service said the days were chosen because of them being “significant days of celebration or commemoration" and those are:
- Monday, January 20 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
- Saturday, April 18 – First day of National Park Week & National Junior Ranger Day
- Tuesday, August 25 – National Park Service’s Birthday
- Saturday, September 26 – National Public Lands Day
- Wednesday, November 11 – Veteran's Day
Diclaimer: While the fees are waived for the day, camping and other recreation activities may not be free. Also, other parks like Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, National Historical Park, and River Raisin National Battlefield Park are always free!
