Just because it is now fall in Michigan, that doesn't mean that you can't go on a vacation in our beautiful state, and I highly recommend going to the Upper Peninsula.

This morning as I was scrolling through the pictures on my phone and i realised that it was one year ago today,  that my husband and I went on a vacation through the U.P.  We had so much fun and it was great going to some places that I hadn't been to since I was a kid.

One of those places was Gogebic.  We camped there when I was a child.  I remember one of the big adventures was piling into the station wagon and heading to the dump where we watched the bears from the safety of our car.(don't judge, it was fun.).

The city of Calumet located in Copper Country.  You can do many things there, checkout the museum, go on a walking tour, do some hiking and just relax looking at the beautiful views of our U.P.

Another fun city is Ishpeming, (it is alo a fun name to say,,,again don't judge).  Ishpeming is located just west of Marquette.  The city offers a lot to do no matter what season it is.   If you go in the winter you can rent snowmobiles, which is a total blast, or go cross country skiing.

Marquette is a lovely city. located on the shores of Lake Superior.  Marquette is the largest city in the Upper Peninsula and is home to Northern Michigan University.

There is also the Porcupine Mountains , which is amazing and you should check out the Soo Locks at Sault Ste. Marie.  I find it so amazing to watch the huge ships go through the locks.  That is ones thing you need to see before the ice takes over Lake Superior.

Finally on Monica's list of great places to seen in the Upper Peninsula, is St. Ignace.  The city is right there, once you cross the Mackinac Bridge .  You can catch a ferry ride there to the island, or spend the day in the lovely city.  Now I know many people have their favorite place to get a delicious pastie, just like they have their fudge shop, but I am going to recommend my favorite place for homemade pasties, its Taste of The Upper Peninsula and Zodiac Party Store on West U.S. 2.  You can order your pasty with a side of ketchup, gravy or plain (that's how the purist's eat them ) me, I am a gravy girl...delicious.
