Do they sell Argyle socks here? It would make sense if they did.

The village of Argyle in Sanilac County was named after the township, which was organized in 1872. The first settlers were mostly made up of Scots that came here from Ontario, Canada. A post office opened in 1876 with town supervisor Alexander McLachlin becoming the postmaster. The post office has permanently closed.

The first school sessions were held in one of McLachlin’s buildings in 1863; this was followed in 1864 when a log schoolhouse was finally constructed.

In the 2020 census, Argyle’s population was 687 so there aren't many people to stare you down if you happen to do a drive-thru.

What’s to see in Argyle? Some old empty buildings, the beautiful St. Joseph stone church, the cool old closed post office, and the old wooden gas station at the intersection – closed down, abandoned and now used as a shelter for neighborhood vehicles.

It’s a little town you probably wouldn’t think twice about while driving through; but now that you know at least an iota of information, you might find it necessary to linger a few extra minutes.
