There's no doubt about the fact that walking is really good for you. Not only is it really good exercise, but walking can help out in so many healthy ways.

I found this really good article at aarp.org and it has already inspired me to start a walking program with my wife, Lori.

In this article, they talk about 8 great reasons to walk more. I'm still working on 2 great reasons to start walking.  I thought I would share some of the best reasons to walk more based on this article I read.

1. Trim those extra inches. Walking is a really good form of exercise. It's a fact that if you walk at least every other day if not every day, you will cut calories and the weight will start to come off over time. You should dedicate yourself to do more walking. Walking reduces stress and can help you stay focused on your diet too.

2. Get a good night's sleep. I've always felt that exercising is a good way to help you get a good night's sleep. If you have a bad day at the office and need to clear your mind, just go for a one or two mile walk. You'll find it not only relaxing, but it will definitely help when it's time for a good night's sleep.

3. Ward off depression. We all deal with different emotions throughout each and every day. Experts say that if you can walk for close to an hour each day, you should be able to lower your chances of becoming depressed by a certain percentage.

4. Keep yourself moving for the long term. I think we all know what this means. Don't start a walking routine and then give up once you've started. Walking has several health benefits and it's very important to keep moving as often as you can.
