We totally get that getting kids to not only put on a mask but keep it on is a whole different level of challenging and with the new mask mandate extended to kiddos ages two to four, we've got some tips.

I am not a parent so I can't imagine how hard it has been for all of you during this pandemic. Even pandemic or not, getting kids to keep anything from their clothes to their shoes to sometimes even their diapers on can be a pain so how can you get a two-year-old to keep on a mask?

When this news first came about I immediately thought of our nephew who is two and doesn't even really like us to wipe his face, let alone put a mask on it.

What The Mandate Is All About

This expanded mask mandate, according to FOX 47 News, comes from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and went into effect Monday, April 26th.

They do understand kids will be kids and so they say a "good faith effort" is required to get your two to four-year-old to wear a mask in public places, at childcare facilities, camps and during other gatherings.

How To Make It A More Smooth Process

Of course, kids between the ages of two to four are a handful in themselves which is why there are some "tricks of the trade" when it comes to following these new guidelines.

FOX 47 News along with experts like Lucy McGoron, an assistant professor of research at Wayne State came up with some simple ways you can help make this process even somewhat fun for you and your kiddo.

10 Tips To Get Young Kids To Wear Masks

Michigan recently mandated children ages 2 to 4 have to wear masks in public places, a change from the previous mandate of 5 years old. Of course, that comes with its own set of challenges so here are a few tips!

Is It All Really Worth It?

To be honest, in situations like this I keep going back to a quote from the very beginning of this whole mess that is the COVID-19 pandemic that basically said we may never know if we overreacted to it all but we will absolutely know if we didn't do enough.

As someone who has had no problem with the mask mandates this whole time, I'll admit even I was a little skeptical about this one. I know there are plenty of adults out there who don't see the point in wearing masks themselves that probably won't appreciate this new one for the younger kids.

However, if it's one small thing we can do to hopefully put this all behind us, it is worth it and it instills a sense of responsibility and doing things for the common good in kids and is that really a bad thing?
