Paczki are packed full of fillings and calories and are very sweet and gooey.  Fat Tuesday is here tomorrow, which means it's time to get your fill of paczki.

Paczki which is pronounced Poonch-kee, are fried doughnuts which originated in Poland.  They were originally filled with prunes.  (Yuck!!!)  You can also get them filled with fruit, custard or chocolate.

Paczki are mainly eaten on Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras, the day Christians who choose to observe Lent traditionally indulge before beginning their observance of the 40 day stretch before Easter.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
