Anybody else remember when Meijer was called 'Meijer Thrify Acres?'

This classic Meijer ad from the 80s harkens back to the days when you had to drive to Pierson Rd. in order to shop at Meijer. Meijer Thrifty Acres, that is.

The 80s-centric spot was shared on Instagram by Jeffreymixed who we suspect lived in the Mitten State at one point or another based on the fact that he added an apostrophe and an 's' to Meijer in his caption:

"I'm shopping at Meijer's from now on!"

This particular Meijer spot was targeted toward shoppers in Grand Rapids, but I suspect there was a localized version that featured ad copy directed at Flint shoppers.

The commercial has been viewed over 5,000 in the last couple of weeks, and has gathered its fair share of comments. Clearly, this brings back memories for a number of people. syrian_with_babyblues shared her thoughts:

"This brings back memories. Especially being from Grand Rapids. This brings back so many memories. One in particular my friends dared me to steal a pair of Jordace Jeans! I did and they totally ratted me out 😂😂😂 the good ole days."

And from Megc6

"Calling Meijer one of a kind doesn’t even do it justice. Growing up they gave out free fish during kids week and had Pog tournaments. When I was eight, I won the Pog tournaments and I got $500 worth of Pogs. 💕💕💕"

Rember:  Youuuuuuu and Meijer, you are one of a kind.
