Third MSU Spartan Player Tests Positive for COVID-19

According to the Detroit Free Press, a Michigan State basketball spokesman confirmed starting shooting guard Joshua Langford is the third Spartan player who tested positive for COVID-19 last week.

First of all, we're all sorry to hear that Joshua Langford tested positive for COVID-19. Let me add this, Joshua Langford is one of my favorite MSU basketball players on the team and he is one of the main reasons why I watch all MSU games.

Apparently Joshua Langford tested positive last Wednesday after practice. That caused MSU to cancel its trip and postpone Thursday's game at No. 8 Iowa and Sunday's home game against Indiana.

At this point, it's unclear if the Spartans will play their next game which is scheduled for Saturday at home against No. 13 Illinois.

Since all of this has happened, MSU has not had a full team practice since Langford's test. Coach Tom Izzo said he hopes MSU can resume practice this week.

Langford was the third player last week to test positive for COVID-19. Freshman Mady Sissoko received his diagnosis two days after MSU's 55-54 home loss to Purdue. Sophomore Steven Izzo tested positive a few days later. (Detroit Free Press)

Big Ten rules state that players who contract COVID-19 must isolate for 10 days and will not be eligible to return to competition until 17 days after the diagnosis at the earliest barring further complications.

We all know that COVID-19 has taken a toll on most sports and all we can do is wish our favorite athletes the best and continue watching the games when everyone is safe from the coronavirus.
