Driving down side roads in any Michigan county, you will more than likely encounter one or more old one-room schoolhouses, of which there are hundreds still standing throughout the entire state of Michigan.

These historic one-roomers are mostly from the 1800's, some from the early 1900's, and all are over 100 years old.....and some have been abandoned for years.

Check out the photo gallery below to see 23 different old one-roomers that are spread throughout Clinton County: St. Johns, Dewitt, Laingsburg and more.

If you decide to take a road trip to see these up close, that would be terrific...but some of them are now private residences and a few are businesses establishments. So drive by, enjoy, take some pictures, but be respectful of the ones that are privately owned.
