Although they are separated by the Straits of Mackinac, can Lake Michigan and Lake Huron technically be considered the same lake?

An accident just before 11 am on Friday, January 7th, 2022 closed down the Mackinac Bridge and almost pushed a pick-up truck into the Straits of Mackinac.

"We didn't expect to find this — it was really just amazing," said Andrea Pierce, a 56-year-old Ypsilanti resident and citizen of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, who was one of four women who drove the project to inspect the Straits bottom.
