Well it kind of figures. Finally a nice stretch of warm weather and we have a beach closing.

Holland State Park beach is going to be closed during the daytime this week on June 15th through the 19th during daytime hours. The DNR has announced plans for a sand project.

According to MLive, crews will be moving sand from the parking lots and back to the beach. This is work that usually is done earlier, but with the COVID 19 pandemic and stay at home orders, the work did not get done like it usually does.

The project begins on Monday and includes removing the snow fence, moving sand that has drifted to the parking lots back to the beach area, and leveling the sand across several areas so that the staff can place picnic tables down.

One of the popular things at the beach is watching the beautiful sunsets. Well good news, you will still be able to see that. Workers will be on the beach during the day, but the beach will open from 6pm until 10pm so you can see that gorgeous sunset we all love.

There is the possibility that this project could wrap up a bit sooner, so the DNR is telling the public to check out the website Michigan..gov/Holland for the most current updates.
