The time has come to seriously consider getting a flu shot as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

According to the Lansing State Journal, state officials are making a big push for Michiganians to get a flu shot.

State officials have set a goal of more than 4.2 million Michigan residents getting a flu shot this year. In fact, that would be a 33% increase over 2019.

Even Governor Gretchen Whitmer said it's more important than ever for people here in Michigan to get a flu shot. Whitmer feels that it's very important as the state continues dealing with our current pandemic.

Here's a good question, why is it more important to get a flu shot this year?

Dr. Paul Entler said, "I think it's critical that people do get the vaccine. When you do get the flu shot, you may still get the flu, but it will be significantly less serious." (LSJ)

My wife Lori and I have been talking about getting our flu shots very soon. Most likely we will set up an appointment at the Doctor's office and get our flu shots.

Another big question, who should get the flu shot?

Entler said everyone age 6 months and older should get a flu shot. The more people who are vaccinated, the better.

Dr. Entler also said "it doesn't just protect yourself, it protects others with high risk. Both the flu and the disease caused by the novel coronavirus are highly contagious." (LSJ)
