Lansing Mayor Andy Schor has declared a state of emergency for Lansing as heavy snow and bitter cold temperatures are expected in the city.

According to the Lansing State Journal, all on street parking is prohibited to ensure safety and efficiency during snow clearing operations.

The entire area is under a Winter Weather Advisory until 7 p.m. tonight.  Snow accumulation could be anywhere from 5 to 9 inches.  Other areas could receive close to 12 inches of snow.

Lansing Mayor Andy Schor is asking people to stay off of the streets so they can clear them properly.  City employees are working hard to keep roads safe.
