ROADSIDE MICHIGAN: Stagecoach Stop in the Irish Hills
The question I hear a lot is "Is Stagecoach Stop open or closed?"
Well, it used to be open from Memorial Day thru Labor Day. It featured the old cowboy shoot-outs, an old sawmill, panning for gold, hayride, pool, petting zoo, playground, fire pit, hayrides, arcade, gift & souvenir shop, and plenty of camping. The roller coaster mine ride was gone long ago, as was the stagecoach drive through the woods where a band of outlaws held you up.....
Fortunately, it still manages to do certain events, including visits from Santa at Christmas time. Check out their Facebook page HERE for details.
Stagecoach Stop opened in 1965 and competed with Frontier City, which had been open since 1960 on M-50 south of US-12. Frontier City closed in 1974 and Stagecoach Stop closed in 2007. The Cowboy Creek Lodge was added years ago for those who desired to spend the night.
Talk and rumors always pop up about re-opening completely, but it's obviously highly unlikely, in keeping with current situations. Again, check out their Facebook page for current activities!
