Old Farmer’s Almanac: What Kind Of Michigan ‘Spring’ Is Coming?
As is the annual tradition in Michigan for residents who experience temperatures above 60 for the first time since the fall of last year only to have them plummet back to more seasonal temps, it's time to turn to the Old Farmer's Almanac to see what kind of April we're facing in 2025 here in the Mitten State.

Will it be a pleasant, albeit damp, April for Michiganders, or will we see Old Man Winter leave, kicking, screaming, and spewing snow and frigid temperatures across the state as he does most years? Let's see what the wise, sage-like agriculture experts from the Old Farmer's Almanac have to say.
April Showers?
In the 233rd edition of the Old Farmer's Almanac, Spring 2025 is predicted to be wetter than average for the majority of the country, EXCEPT for in lower-lying regions like the Lower Great Lakes.

April's forecast for Michigan says to expect an average temperature of 49.5 degrees. The Old Farmer's Almanac says that the first 9 days of the month will see rain AND a possible rain snow mix. After that, expect sunny skies and warmer temps through April 15 with rain expected the next week, followed by a warm-up beginning on the 24th (which leads to a May they predict will average 60 degrees).
Snow? What About Snow?
While the Old Farmers' Almanac doesn't outright say there will be snow, they say the area that has the greatest chance of late season snow and colder temperatures is...you guessed it, the Lower Great Lakes. Honestly, would it really be Michigan if we didn't get snow in April?

Of course, this forecast isn't set in stone. Though the Old Farmers' Almanac claims to have an 80% accuracy rate, sources like Scientific America and Popular Mechanics both point out that their predictions aren't anywhere near as accurate as atmospheric science and supercomputer models. Yeah, but do supercomputers like their finger and hold it in the air? I didn't think so.
