A tougher snow ordinance appears to be paying off for the City of Lansing and its efforts to keep residential and commercial properties walkable.

Since winter began, Lansing's Public Service Department has cleared 447 residential and commercial property sidewalks that were not shoveled within 24 hours of a snowstorm.

The fee was at least $149 in each instance, considered the minimum charge, to cover work done by city crews, or more than $66,000.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal!
