Severe Bluff Erosion is Threatening Homes Along Lake Michigan
According to WILX-News 10, Your Breaking News and Weather Authority, a Wisconsin family is having a difficult time deciding what to do about their home which is hanging over an eroding cliff that could give out any time.
The couple moved out about a year ago after their side porch fell right into Lake Michigan. Currently, about 10 feet of their home hangs right over the edge.
Severe bluff erosion is threatening homes along Lake Michigan in parts of Wisconsin. Rising levels creating big waves are to blame for the natural erosion.
The owners say their insurance doesn't cover earth movement, and they can't demolish the house because they still owe $100,000 on the property. Talk about a person's worst nightmare.
If it does go tumbling down, the owners would be fined for contaminating Lake Michigan's federally protected water.
