Secret Tunnel & Room Found Underneath a Home in Marysville, Michigan
When I bought my house, I was told there may be secret compartments in the walls. After looking over every inch of every wall, I finally found one: way down at the bottom between the floor and the wall. I opened it up, hoping to find anything – money, valuables, maybe it was even a weed stash. But no. It was completely empty.
Many owners of old homes have found secret compartments, walls, hidden stairways, and even rooms. Such is the case of Trevor Gilmartin and his wife in the Michigan town of Marysville, who, in June 2024, were attempting to construct their own personal jacuzzi.
Beneath the location of their hot tub, a large, 20-foot-deep hole was uncovered. Investigating further, it was an underground tunnel that led to a kind of room. Trevor made a video and shared it online, with viewers guessing about what it could have originally been used for. Underground Railroad? Hideout for the mob? Root cellar?

Previously, the building had been a water pumping station; Trevor was given an old newspaper article by the previous owner that had an article about the structure that featured a photo. Trevor began turning the old station into a home in 1979 but it was years later when the hole and tunnel were uncovered.
Before you start tearing up your walls or basement floor, it might be a good idea to get some kind of radar or electronic reading to see if there is anything hidden that may be worth digging for.
