Some of us have the holiday spirt already, and that could only mean one thing, Santa Claus is coming to downtown Grand Rapids this weekend.

Santa is working his tail off this holiday season. Not only will Santa Claus make an appearance at Silver Bells in the City this Friday, November 18, he'll also make an appearance in Grand Rapids on Saturday.

According to mlive.com:

Santa Claus and his reindeers will be joined by high school marching bands, handmade holiday floats, special guests and more in celebration of the 101st Gentex Santa Parade, formerly Art Van Santa Parade. The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18 on Michigan Street NW, then heading south on Monroe Avenue and turning onto Louis Street, before finishing on Ottawa Avenue.

This event is going to bring so many wonderful smiles to many children on Saturday in the Grand Rapids area. Not only smiles, they're expecting close to 30,000 Michiganders on Saturday.

There will be new activities this year for everyone to enjoy, including four food trucks, a winter coffee and hot chocolate station, and how about live performances in the Rosa Parks Circle Bandshell. Sounds like fun to me!

The Grand Rapids Junior Chamber, formerly the Grand Rapids Jaycees, aims to commemorate its history with the parade by having Santa Claus fly onto the streets of Grand Rapids in the historic 1950s Jaycee’s sleigh.

The Grand Rapids area hasn't held this event for the past couple of years due to the Covid pandemic. The time has come to bring it back because this parade has been such a staple in the Grand Rapids area.
