The Meridian Township Planning Commission has recommended the township's Board of Trustees approve a redevelopment project for downtown Okemos.

According to WILX-News 10, Your Breaking News and Weather Authority, the commission voted yes on the project referred to as the Village of Okemos during a meeting Monday night.

During the Danny and Monica morning show, we discussed that the $100 million dollar project calls for demolishing all of the buildings bordered by Ardmore Avenue, Okemos Road, and Methodist and Clinton streets.

The plan calls for seven new buildings which would include places for shops, restaurants, and apartments to replace the torn down buildings.

No word yet on when the Meridian Township Board of Trustees will vote on the plan.  Please click on the above link for more information.
